Students debate Holocaust lessons | Alunos reflectem sobre Holocausto

Seventh grade students took part in a powerful Socratic Seminar centered around Night, the memoir by Holocaust survivor Elie Wiesel. Deeply engaged, they discussed important themes such as whether tragic history like the Holocaust should be taught in middle school. Students also identified Human Rights violations in the book and reflected on how small, unchecked acts of discrimination led to the genocide of millions. Their thoughtful questions and passionate dialogue showed empathy and critical thinking. This experience not only deepened their understanding of the Holocaust but also sparked reflections on injustice in today's world.

Alunos do 7.º ano participaram num impactante Seminário Socrático centrado em Night, o livro de memórias do sobrevivente do Holocausto Elie Wiesel. Altamente envolvidos, debateram temas relevantes como: será importante ensinar a história trágica do Holocausto no 3.º ciclo? Identificaram também violações dos Direitos Humanos na obra e refletiram sobre como pequenos atos de discriminação, quando ignorados, culminaram no genocídio de milhões. As suas perguntas revelaram empatia e pensamento crítico. Esta atividade aprofundou não só o conhecimento histórico dos alunos, como também promoveu uma reflexão sobre injustiças atuais.
