Cidades Invisíveis: Colaboração entre Português e Art & Design | Invisible Cities: Collaboration between Portuguese and Art & Design
Ainda no ano letivo 2022/2023, as professoras Bárbara Doria e Maria Gomes, da disciplina de Português, juntamente com Sara Prudêncio, de Art & Design, desafiaram os seus alunos do 8º ano (agora do 9º) a criar textos e arte visual inspirados na leitura da obra "As Cidades Invisíveis" do escritor italiano Italo Calvino.
Em Português, através desta obra, os alunos acompanharam a visão de um viajante sobre as incríveis cidades que visitou. A caracterização poética e simbólica de cada cidade permitiu-lhes explorar o significado das cidades para os seus habitantes, o impacto que têm sobre as suas vivências e o que revelam sobre as mesmas. A partir da análise dos textos, os alunos partiram para a criação literária de lugares únicos - as suas próprias cidades.
Em Art & Design, o projeto foi impulsionado pela questão: "O que é uma cidade?". Cada aluno escolheu uma das cidades de Italo Calvino e criou uma ilustração que expressasse graficamente a sua narrativa e ambiente. Essas ilustrações foram depois materializadas através de uma técnica artesanal e experimental de gravura – a colagrafia.

During the academic year 2022/2023, Portuguese teachers Bárbara Doria and Maria Gomes, together with Art & Design teacher Sara Prudêncio, challenged their Year 8 students (now Year 9!) to create texts and visual art inspired by their reading of "The Invisible Cities" by Italian writer Italo Calvino.
In Portuguese, the students followed a traveller's view of the incredible cities he visited. The poetic and symbolic characterisation of each city allowed them to explore the meaning of cities for their inhabitants, the impact they have on their lives and what they reveal about them. After analysing the texts, the students set about the literary creation of unique places - their own cities.
In Art & Design, the project was driven by the question: "What is a city?". Each student chose one of Italo Calvino's cities and created an illustration that graphically expressed its narrative and atmosphere. These illustrations were then materialised using an artisanal and experimental printmaking technique - collagraphy.
